Irvine Condominiums
The Irvine condominium resale market is a $497 million market with almost 1,100 resale condos sold in 2009 and an average price of $474K. Many of the condos in Irvine have been built in the last decade. Only in recent years have the architectural styles varied from the traditional “Spanish / Mediterranean” or Stucco style of condo. Since 2000 there have been additions that included Lofts, Midrises and Highrises.
History of Irvine
This former 1870's sheep ranch, evolved to one of the largest masterplan cities in the U.S.; stretching from the Pacific Ocean to the Santa Ana River to the Irvine Ranch. Founded by James Irvine, the ranch was later incorporated into The Irvine Company and in later years, home to ranch operations for crops and orchards.
During the world wars, some of the ranch land was sold to the government for a Marine base (home now to Tustin Fields and The District), some was given to the University of California, becoming the home to University of California Irvine. Once UCI was founded, the University architects and The Irvine Company drew up plans for industrial, residential and recreational areas, now known as Irvine.
The City of Irvine was incorporated in 1971 and today’s perfectly manicured neighborhoods and homes that all match perfectly have grown to be one of the most highly desired areas to live. Irvine is known for its well kept neighborhoods, clean and safe living and the best of school districts.
